Critics' Verdict

Critics were mostly positive on Sonchiriya, praising its powerful cast, realistic Chambal setting, writing and themes of guilt, caste and redemption. Sushant Singh Rajput, Ranvir Shorey, Manoj Bajpayee and Bhumi Pednekar received strong praise. The main complaint was the slow pace, while a few critics found the story emotionally distant. The strong reviews did not translate into ticket sales.
