Critics' Verdict

Maalik is carried by Rajkummar Rao’s committed and menacing performance, but a clichéd gangster story and predictable writing leave little else to distinguish it. The weak critical response was matched by poor theatrical business, ultimately turning this ambitious crime drama into a box office flop.
