Mumbai, Sept. 24 -- Barun Sobti has had a good year so far. He not only returned to television starring in a daily soap, but he is also ready for his second film's release.

"This year has been awesome. I am very excited that Tu Hai Mera Sunday (THMS) is releasing next month. We got a superb response for the trailers and now it has become this huge ball of expectation," says the actor.

The chopping of the kissing scene with co-star Shahana Goswami in the film became "national news", feels Barun who admits, he had some reservations about it. "I don't mind intimate scenes as I've done many in the past on TV but I am not comfortable with kissing scenes on screen. It's a personal thing. But otherwise, while shooting the film, we all had great fun as a unit and I think that camaraderie reflects in the film too."

Barun rose to fame with the hit TV show Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon? co-starring Sanaya Irani in 2011. Later, he starred in Main Aur Mr. Riight (2014) which flopped at the box-office. Now with THMS' release, he says he is "enjoying the moment."

"I don't know what this film will do for my career but I am excited about the release. People have told me that you should model your career in a certain way, but I feel your life and career can't be formed as you wish. If it takes off, it does or it doesn't."

Barun returned to TV after a hiatus of five years with a new TV show this year. But as the show's title was the same as his last one and Sanaya didn't star in it with him, there were many comparisons, expectations and controversies around the show. After almost three months, the show will end soon. Barun says the reactions to his show were "okay".

"I am happy that people liked me and my work in the show. As for comparisons with the old show, I feel that's the way our industry works. When something clicks, everybody is happy and they applaud it but when it doesn't, they find flaws. I am happy with what I did in the show and I am okay about it ending too. I am a huge advocate of the saying 'people like what they like', so when they like your product, you think everybody is so smart. But when they don't, you feel they don't know anything (laughs)."

Once he wraps up the show and releases his movie, Barun will be taking a break. "It will be a small one. Now, when I say break, I have to specify (laughs)," he says.
