Sonam Kapoor’s TV debut on Anil Kapoor's show

Anil Kapoor’s Indian version of the TV series 24 has been in the news from day one, as has the casting for the show. Many popular actors’ names have been doing the rounds regarding the same. However, talks of Anil’s daughter Sonam being roped in for the show have been the most
During the launch of 24 in India, Anil was asked by the media if Sonam would be part of the show. At the time, he had said, “If there is a character which suits Sonam or Sonam thinks will suit her, then why not?”
Now finally, the news is confirmed. Anil, who is not only producing the Indian version of the popular American series, but is also making his TV acting debut with it, will now have Sonam for company. She too will be making her television debut with the show, in which she will play her father’s onscreen daughter.
Anil says, “Yes, Sonam has been signed on to play the role of my daughter in 24.” Was the role going to her all along, or was her name added to the cast later? “There was too much pressure from the channel to cast her. We did a lot of auditions and later decided to cast her. She was keen to do it too, so she has been locked for the role.” As soon as the actor returns from New York, she will begin shooting for the show. On being contacted, Sonam responded with a text message, saying, “I’m excited to be part of 24. I can’t wait to start shooting.”
The show is being directed by Abhinay Deo of Delhi Belly (2011) fame. Rensil D’Silva, Bhavani Iyer and Abhinay have rewritten the script, adapting it for an Indian audience. The shooting began last month in Mumbai and the show is expected to go on air around mid-2013 on Colors.
April fool: Sonam won’t be seen in 24!
We got you. As much as we would love to see Sonam on the small screen, she isn’t acting in Anil Kapoor’s Indian version of the popular American series, 24. Anil, who was more than happy to play along with us for this April Fool’s story says, “I wanted to be a part of this as there has been too much speculation about Sonam acting in 24. There was never a discussion over her being part of the show in the first place, but everyone in the media went on and on about it. Whenever I went to any press conference for 24, I was always asked this question.”
Apparently, it was not just Anil who had to face these queries. Anil says, “Sonam would tell me that people kept asking her about 24. I told her that I didn’t mention anything about her acting in the series. I think more than us, the press is excited to see you in 24.”
A newcomer Sapna Pabbi plays Anil Kapoor’s daughter in the show. Praising her, Anil says, “She’s from London and is doing a fabulous job. She will be a surprise package.”
