Salman too old for my films: Barjatya

By Hindustan Times

A Rajshri production, Love U… Mr. Kalakaar, is a love story between an artist (Tusshar Kapoor) and a modern city girl (Amrita Rao). However, it doesn't have a joint family and 40 odd characters like a typical Sooraj Barjatya's film.

Tusshar elaborates on his character, "I play an artist in this film who makes paintings inspired by nature. The message of the film is how one can keep one's art alive in spite of being in this fast paced world especially in cities like Mumbai and Delhi. Amrita's character Ritu supports me in my struggle. You have to see what happens in the love story between Sahil and Ritu."

Real life Amrita is just like her character Ritu in the film. "Rajshri banner is famous for giving women actresses their dues in the industry. Ritu is a very strong character, someone who has a mind of her own. She'll put her point forward but won't disobey her parents if they disagree. The real me is just like what you will see in the film," informs Amrita.

Love U...Director S Manasvi tells more about his film, "Our film is about an artist and his struggle to prove himself worthy of heroine's love. It's believed that artists live in their dream world and are not practical enough to support the love of their life. And how an artist proves this wrong is basically the story of our film."

Barjatya on Salman Khan
Barjatya's blue eyed boy Salman Khan, who has given hits like Hum Aapke Hain Kaun and Maine Pyaar Kiya, is missing from his films for a while now. "These are some subjects where he doesn't fit in because of his age and image. Just because I'm close to him, it doesn't make sense for both of us to work together unless it's really going to flower out. I can't offer him Sahil's role as that's not how Salman will feel and look at this age. It depends from film to film," explains Barjatya.

Siblings clash at BO
What's Tusshar's take on Ekta Kapoor's film Ragini MMS clashing with Love U… at the Box Office? "Hum aamne saamne nahin hum saath saath hain. Both are my films, so I want both of them to do well. There is no clash," says modest Tusshar.

Tusshar-Radhika an item?
Ekta Kapoor had made it pretty clear in Koffee with Karan that she isn't too fond of Tusshar's 'special' friendship with his Shor in the City co-star Radhika Apte. Is he dating her? "Every time you do a film and when you get friendly with your co-star, you get linked. Sometimes things happen and they go out of hand as far as Media is concerned. But one must take things in their stride and there is no truth to these rumours. If there was anything, I would be answering you very candidly as I'm not shy to admit things that are really happening in my life," states the Shor in the City actor.

But in the very next moment he contradicts his candid image, "If I'm dating anybody, it's my private life. I don't want to share it with you."

Amrita's take on newbies
Do you feel competition from new actresses like Deepika Padukone and Sonam Kapoor? "I find it illogical to compare actresses. What we give to our roles is so personal and it entirely depends on what kind of qualities we have. Everybody is differently made in terms of structure, skintone and age group. Everybody has a different background of existence. So I've never thought about that," the Vivaah actress points out.
