R25 a day for cook Sanju in jail

New Delhi, May 16 -- Today is the day Sanjay Dutt will go to jail for three years. But, the 53-year-old is not going to stop working, as he will be working in prison for a daily wage of R25.
The actor, convicted in the 1993 Mumbai blasts case, is likely to be lodged at the Yerawada jail in Pune, where he'll serve his remaining 36-month sentence after having already served 18 months earlier. A prisoner is employed as a carpenter, carpet maker or a cook among having to perform other tasks once in prison, and Dutt will also have to choose one.
Reportedly, he made a chair the last time he served his prison term, and this time, he also stands a chance to see a wage hike from R25 to R50 per day if he's good at his job. Apart from this, the Munna Bhai actor is also entitled to an allowance of R1,500 from his family, and he will be allowed to meet a maximum of five people in a month for 20 minutes.
Sanju can also be made in-charge of the telephone facility that is to start on trial basis at Yerawada Jail. Dutt had moved a special court seeking permission to surrender directly too. Citing threats to his life from fundamentalists, Dutt had also sought permission from a TADA court to surrender in jail even as the Supreme Court refused to grant him more time than today to give himself up.
