A new Kapil Sharma production and starrer, Firangi is a film set during the era of the British Raj. Kapil Sharma plays a character called Manga, who works as a British servant.
The female leads are Ishita Dutta and Monica Gill. Surprisingly, this is not a comedy movie, but instead a period drama. The film will release on 1st December. The music album too is quite intense, something unexpected out of a Kapil Sharma film. Let’s have a look at it.
1. Oye Firangi
The title track sets a pretty good tone for the movie and the rest of the album. It has a feel good vibe to it, and Kapil Sharma looks sort of charming in his own way. The song talks about Manga’s new job for the British. Singer is Sunidhi Chauhan.
2. Sajna Sohne Jiha
The second song is a love track between Kapil Sharma and Ishita Dutta, sung by Jyoti Nooran. It’s lovely Punjabi folk music and everything, but I am just not used to seeing Kapil Sharma in such romantic roles. It’s going to take some time for most of us to accept.
3. Sahiba Russ Gayiya
A melancholic track in the voice of Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. Need I say anything more?
4. Tu Jit Java
Watch out for this Daler Mehndi track coming your way! Extra energy, extra Punjabi, and a Lagaan part 2 kind of a song. Just kidding.
5. Gulbadan
A mujra number by Mamta Sharma that makes you want to cringe and skip the track and move on to the last number.
6. Sahiba
Shafaqat Amanat Ali Khan closes the album with a beautiful version of Sahiba Russ Gayiya. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I think I like this version better!
Overall an average music album, mostly because I cannot take Kapil Sharma seriously, and secondly, well the songs are good but will be soon forgotten.
