Shankar’s 2.0 will release only in January 2018 but has forever been in news. It is the sequel of 2010’s Enthiran and hence the excitement is sky high.
Any Rajinikanth film creates an unprecedented buzz. In 2.o’s case, the energy is even more palpable as Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar is set to make his Kollywood debut. While Rajinikanth will reprise his dual role as robot Chiti and Dr Vaseegaran, Akshay will play the evil Dr Richard.
Dr Richard’s first look, which was revealed as back as March 2016, has piqued everybody’s interest -- Akshay has never looked this ugly and scary. With long eye lashes, burning yellow eyes, long and curved nails and dark blue-black ‘bird feather’ clothes, Akshay was a frightful sight to behold. In November 2016, posters of the principle characters were unveiled.
Barring this nothing tangible has been revealed by the makers. However, all that is set to change. The creative head of Lyca Productions, Raju Mahalingam on September 7, tweeted that fans of Enthiran 2 won’t have to wait for long as the makers will unveil the film’s audio, teaser and trailer in October, November and December respectively.
He wrote: “Festivities to Begin” Come Oct -Audio Release in Dubai!!! Nov-Teaser in Hyderabad and Dec-Trailer in Namma Singara Chennai!!! 2.0 Loading!!”
In October, the film will have its audio launch in Dubai, followed by a teaser launch in Hyderabad in November and finally a trailer launch in December in Chennai.
Enthiran starred Bollywood diva Aishwarya Rai Bachchan but the sequel will star Amy Jackson. The film’s music is composed by AR Rahman and director Shankar has left no stones unturned to give audience the best stunt to go with the theme of the film.
Akshay is on a career high with his two films that released this year -- Jolly LLB 2 and Toilet: Eik Prem Katha -- turning out to be blockbusters. He also has some interesting projects in the pipeline -- Padman, Gold and, of course, Enthiran 2.
Rajinikanth hasn’t really had an amazing run on the box office of late -- though Kabali did get an amazing opening and went on to be a hit, his other films Lingaa (2014) and Kochadaiiyaan (2014) proved to be duds.
