Kareena Kapoor takes inspiration from Christiane Amanpour

By Hindustan Times
Kareena Kapoor has always maintained that she’s a spontaneous actor and doesn’t prepare for her roles, but it looks like that’s set to change now. For her role in Prakash Jha’s Satyagraha, she’s taking inspiration from Christiane Amanpour, the famous CNN reporter. “She is doing really intense research for this role. Her part in the film is difficult and she wants to make sure she does complete justice to it,” reveals a source, adding, “Kareena has asked for videos of the major stories reported by Christiane. She has also asked for documentaries based on her and all the interviews she has done along with videos of her being interviewed. Since she’s taking inspiration from such a renowned reporter, she doesn’t want to mess it up in any way.”
Kareena has around a month to prepare for the role before the film goes on the floors. Her look, the source says, will be simple and somewhat like her appearance in Dev (2004).
The first schedule, which will start early next year, will take place in Bhopal. The film will also have Amitabh Bachchan in a role heavily inspired by social activist Anna Hazare.
The release date has been fixed as August 15.
‘I’m excited about performance-oriented roles’
Insisting that marriage doesn’t influence her choice of films, Kareena Kapoor claims that starting with Satyagraha, she’s keen to take on more character-oriented roles.
“I really wanted to do Satyagraha, because I wanted to work with Prakash Jha (director) and even Ajay Devgn, with whom he has a great track record. I’m excited to be part of such a performance-oriented film,” says the actor.
Claiming that this shouldn’t be misconstrued as her wanting to do only heavy, issue-based films, she clarifies, “I’m not restricting myself to any particular genre. It’s about the content and your character. I love song-and-dance films too.”
