Items that Bigg Boss inmates smuggled inside house

Before the inmates entered the Bigg Boss house this season, an interesting mix of articles was confiscated from them — Scotch tape, scissors, tea bags, nail cutters, money and CDs. But, a set of ‘special’ things were allowed in.
“(TV anchor) Mandeep Bevli wanted to carry her own pateela (cooking pot) to make tea and a pair of scissors to cut her hair, (model) Pooja Mishra wanted to carry jasmine tea. However, we didn’t allow these items. Nihita Biswas (wife of Charles Sobhraj) wanted to take the Bhagwad Gita, but we don’t let them bring books,” says a source from the production unit of the reality TV show, which airs on Colors. Vida Samadzai, former Miss Afghanistan, had to give away chewing gums, mint and mouthwash.
Among other things that were taken away were phones, pens, cigarettes, purses and keys (except suitcase keys).
However, all participants have taken items they couldn’t seem to do without. Actor Shakti Kapoor has carried along a collage of family photos; actor Pooja Bedi has carried the largest wardrobe, with 150 designer clothes by the likes of Anamika Khanna, Neeta Lulla and Falguni and Shane; and singer Raageshwari has taken dumbbells. “Nihita has taken her wedding pictures, that she looks at a lot. Mahak Chahal has taken 12 pairs of shoes. Mandeep has taken disinfectant wipes and a bottle of Dettol. Gulabo has taken a big bag of silver jewellery,” says the source. Female participants have taken hair irons and wax strips, but were not allowed blow-dryers.
Participants of the previous seasons say it’s not fair. Sakshi Pradhan, who participated in Season 4 says, “They did not let me take my hanuman chaalisa. I get very scared and I read it at night, but they said I couldn’t take any written material.”
