Mumbai, Dec. 12 -- It's been five years since Yami Gautam began her Bollywood career with Vicky Donor (2012), and even though she had a few hits down the road, she says 2017 has been exceptionally good for her.
The actor says, "I have said this before, but Kaabil is an extremely special film. It has made 2017 as good as my debut year, when Vicky Donor was released. The opportunity to play the challenging role of a visually-impaired girl and receiving such a phenomenal response for it gave me a very different high. To top it all, I got to work with Hrithik Roshan - who is not just a superstar and known for his work, but for the great person that he is. There's a lot to be thankful for this year."
Are there any specific genres that she wants to explore now? "I'd like to explore everything. As a cinema lover, I enjoy watching all sorts of genres - romance, action, comedy, thrillers and horror. So as an actor, I want to explore it all. But I am really inclined towards something like a costume drama or a dance-based movie," says Yami.
Yami feels all her contemporaries are immensely talented, but she says there are certain actresses whom she likes and finds inspiring.
She says, "I really admire Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone and Katrina Kaif. There is something extremely inspiring about the way they have carved a niche for themselves against the odds with their tremendous hard work and focus. The sky is the limit for ambition, but to channelise it in the correct direction, you have to go the extra mile."
