Mumbai, Dec. 12 -- Ever since his debut (with Student of The Year; 2012), he has played a variety of roles but did you know that Varun Dhawan plays a tailor in his next film?
Now, HT Cafe has learnt that the actor has quietly begun "intense workshops" to perfect his role of a tailor in Sui Dhaaga - Made in India. We have also got hold of exclusive pictures of the actor picking up the required skills.
"Varun is going the extra mile to look authentic in his part of a tailor. So, he is learning everything that a tailor needs to know including stitching and mastering the sewing machine. That's why he is spotted at Aditya Chopra's production house every day to perfect the skill set as makers also want him to master the craft before the film rolls," says an insider.
While director Sharat Katariya, of Dum Laga Ke Haisha (2015) fame, says that the film warrants [expertise in] tailoring, producer Maneesh Sharma feels audiences nowadays are "extremely receptive to authenticity and nuances in storytelling and performances."
"One has to get familiarised with the skill [required for the part], so that when you grab a pair of scissors or move the cloth, it should look seamless, and a part of the scene in a natural way without drawing unnecessary attention to it. And Varun is enthusiastic to possess the required skill set that will layer his character beautifully," says Sharat.
On the other hand, Maneesh is happy that "Varun is aligned to Sharat's thought and vision of having a strong emotional connect with the audience vis-a-vis the way they want to tell the story."
