Mumbai, Jan. 13 -- This year will see many actors don the director's hat. While Sunny Deol has directed Ghayal Once Again that also stars Soha Ali Khan, Ajay Devgn will be acting and directing his ambitious project, Shivaay. Konkona Sensharma will also helm a film this year.

Talking about this trend, trade analyst Komal Nahta says, "They want to be in control, this is the reason why many actors are also turning producers. Of course, this also adds to the buzz of the film. But at the end of the day, it is the content that matters. People want value for their money."

Konkona, who was last seen in film-maker Vishal Bhardwaj's Talvar (2014), is busy working on her debut directorial. "I have written a film, and I am getting ready to direct it soon," she told us earlier. Her estranged husband, actor Ranvir Shorey, will be acting in it. "I'll be doing a film that Konkona is directing. The film's name is A Death In The Ganj," he had said.

Sunny, who made his directorial debut with Dillagi (1999), is happy to return to direction once again. "I was ready and that's why I've decided to direct once again. I really loved and enjoyed the process," he says.

On the other hand, Ajay, who will be seen alongside debutante Sayyeshaa Saigal in his directorial venture, has in fact, impressed his cast. "He's an actor's director," Sayyeshaa was quoted as saying. Meanwhile, Ranveer Singh, too, wishes to step behind the camera in the future. "I want to be a director. I have a lot of admiration for people like Woody Allen, Clint Eastwood, Guru Dutt and Raj Kapoor. It takes a lot of courage to write and direct films," he says. Sonam Kapoor had expressed a similar desire in one of her past interviews as well. However, director Onir says that while there is no harm in actors directing films, they should refrain from acting in the same movie. "Some have the capability to direct and must direct. But it's not a good idea to direct yourself. That should be avoided," he says.

In the recent past, a couple of directors like Anurag Kashyap and Karan Johar, among others, showcased their acting talent. The latest director to jump on this bandwagon is Prakash Jha. Having previously directed films like Apaharan (2005) and Raajneeti (2010), Prakash will now be seen acting in his latest venture, Jai Gangaajal. "I will be one of the subordinates working with Priyanka (Chopra) in the film. It was a good experience; I was helped by my co-actors. It was a good challenge," he says.

Vikram Bhatt also took to acting last year in the film, Bhaag Johnny, in which he played the role of a genie. Kunal Kohli acted in Phir Se (2015). Karan played the antagonist in Bombay Velvet (2015), and Amole Gupte, who has directed films like Stanley Ka Dabba (2011), has also taken to acting in films like Singham Returns in 2014.
