Mumbai, April 15 -- If you haven't watched Satyajit Ray's Mahanagar (1963), then here's your chance to catch it on the big screen.

On Friday (April 18), the film will be re-released with English subtitles at select theatres across Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru, Pune and Ahmedabad, by a multiplex chain, under their special initiative. Mahanagar has been digitally restored by producer Kamal Bansal. Ray won the Silver Bear at the 14th Berlin International Film Festival for the film in 1964.

Earlier, the multiplex's initiative has included the re-release of classics such as Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro (1983), Salaam Bombay (1988), Chashme Buddoor (1981) and Om Dar B Dar (1988).
