This year might not be a great one for the Hindi box office. Highly anticipated films couldn’t take off and satellite rights fetched much less than the projected figures. 
However, 2017 may not end on a sloppy note as Salman Khan is ready to take on the ISIS in his new film, Tiger Zinda Hai.
The makers are releasing the film in 4600 screens in the domestic market and 1100 screens in the overseas markets initially. It’s unchallenged in India as no other film is releasing close to it. Worldwide, it will fight against Star Wars: The Last Jedi, but Bollywood films have their loyal takers, so a certain amount of money is definitely on its way.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh has tweeted about the film’s total screen count and its total production budget.
As per Adarsh, Tiger Zinda Hai has been made at a budget of Rs 130 crore. The print and advertising cost is Rs 20 crore which takes the total tally to Rs 150 crore.
This means the film needs to make approximately Rs 190 crore to register profits. The makers must have recovered a sizeable part of it by selling the satellite and music rights. As per reports, a satellite deal has already been struck at Rs 50 crore.
With 5700 screens, they may open to Rs 60-70 crore weekend even if it fails to create a positive buzz. This means Tiger Zinda Hai will have to sustain a week at the box office to cross the fence and become a profitable venture.
The only worrying part is lesser footfalls in cinema halls this year compared to a few years back, and the rising cost of tickets. As per, 2013 witnessed nearly 34 crore people in cinema halls while this year, it’s projected to 22-23 crore. If that happens than Tiger Zinda Hai will be totally dependent on Khan’s loyal fans and their return to halls.
