Mumbai, Sept. 18 -- In what can be called a unique event, Rajkumar Santoshi and Raju Chadha's forthcoming film, 21-Battle of Saragarhi, was launched at Delhi Cantonment this week.
Twenty one soldiers of the Army's Sikh Regiment - up to the rank of Havaldar - were felicitated in the presence of Nitin Gadkari, minister for road transport and highways and shipping; Manohar Parrikar, defence minister; and Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, veteran Indian shooter and minister of state for information and broadcasting.
Actor Randeep Hooda's transformation as Havaldar Ishar Singh for the film stunned the audience, as he turned up in his look for the film. The other 20 soldiers, who have been cast by casting director Mukesh Chhabra from the interiors of Punjab, looked authentic too.
"The Battle of Saragarhi is an epitome of human courage and bravery, and we wanted to launch it [the film] by honouring the brave Indian soldiers. The Indian Government and the Army supported our endeavour to the hilt," says film-maker and CEO of Wave Cinemas, Rahul Mittra.
