Sequels of classic Hindi films are showering upon the Bollywood audience. The latest that is being heard is that veteran filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma is planning a remake of the 1995 romantic comedy drama film ‘Rangeela’.

Written, directed and produced by Ram Gopal Varma, ‘Rangeela’ starred Aamir Khan, Jackie Shroff and Urmila Matondkar in lead roles. The flick was a blockbuster and was screened at the mainstream section of International Film Festival of India. Moreover, it was later remade in Hollywood as ‘Win a Date with Tad Hamilton!’

Though there were rumours about the remake of this film earlier also, but nothing was ever confirmed as some differences aroused between Urmila Matondkar and RGV. Now, when they have sorted their problems, this film might hit the floor soon.

However, there are reports that the sequel to this superhit film will introduce new faces. A source close to the developments stated, “RGV has started working on the second instalment of his cult Rangeela, which has tentatively been titled Rangeela 2. The director is currently working on the final draft of the film, and will rope in fresh faces.”

Varma was also approached for his comments, but he wasn’t available.

‘Rangeela’ was also the fourth biggest grosser of 1995. Urmila Matondkar became an overnight sensation by songs 'Tanha Tanha' and 'Rangeela Re'. The film won seven awards, Best actor in supporting role - Jackie Shroff, Best choreography - Ahmed Khan, Best Costume Designing - Manish Malhotra, Best Story - Ram Gopal Varma, Best Music - A R Rahman, the RD Burman Award - Mehboob, and a Special Jury Award - Asha Bhosle for "Tanha Tanha"
