Mumbai, Oct. 7 -- Film-maker Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's film Mirzya releases today (October 7). The movie has already impressed audiences at international film festivals.
However, Rakeysh says he will be happy only when his film is appreciated by the audience who comes to watch it in the theatres.
"For me, the real festivals are in the theatres; a dark theatre, where audiences come and watch your work. That is the biggest festival," says the director, whose film has been to the London Film Festival (UK), the Busan Film Festival (South Korea) and the Chicago International Film Festival (USA).
However, this does not mean that Rakeysh, who has introduced actors Harshvardhan Kapoor and Saiyami Kher with this project, does not enjoy going to such festivals.
"I enjoy [film] festivals because there I meet people who are enjoying movies. People from all over the world come there and enjoy your hard work. You get to showcase your work in front of such talented people, and it is a great feeling. It is so good to see people celebrate cinema globally like we celebrate Diwali," he says.
Produced by Cinestaan Film Company and ROMP Pictures, and directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, Mirzya releases today (October 7).
