Prabodh Chandra Dey (1 May 1919–24 October 2013), better known by his nickname Manna Dey, was a playback singer in Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Marathi, Malayalam, Kannada, and Assamese films. He has also sung songs in the Indian languages of Bhojpuri, Awadhi, Magahdh, Punjabi, Maithilee, Konkani, Sindhri and Chattisgarghi.

Manna Dey, one of Indian cinema's golden voices, died in a Bangalore hospital today. He was 94.
In what could be one of his last interviews, the legendary singer, who sang over 4000 songs, spoke to journalist Ranjan Dasgupta on his last birthday in May, this year. "You call me a singer? What am I compared to Mohd Rafi or Hemant Kumar?" asked Dey.
Manna Dey, who passed away on Thursday morning, had decided to record four Rabindra Sangeet songs in his wife's memory this year. The veteran singer was waiting for his health to improve.
