Mumbai, Jan. 14 -- Adhayayan Suman says that his year-long relationship with actor Kangna Ranaut, which began in 2009, is now in the past and he has no regrets about it.

"The affair happened a long time ago, there is nothing to talk about. It is my past. I do not regret that relationship and I'd not like to change anything," he says, only to add, "I have learnt from my mistake. If I meet her today, I will be cordial to her."

The actor also feels that he was "too young then" and "was misunderstood by the media". "People thought I was a brat who was just into girls and luxury cars," he says.

Ask him if he's open to love now, and the 25-year-old says, "I am. I believe love can happen any moment. Having said that, I'm not looking for a girlfriend at the moment. I believe if you do well in your career, everything else falls into place." And as far as his career is concerned, Adhyayan has all his hopes pinned on    his upcoming film, Heartless, that is being directed by his father, Shekhar Suman. "I am very proud of Heartless, and it is very important for the film to do well for me and my family. My father has given me such a fabulous second shot in the industry and I know one doesn't get multiple chances here. So if the film does well, it will open a lot of avenues for me. It is like the light at the end of the tunnel for me," he says.

Speaking about the time when he did not have work, Adhayayan says, "After Jashn (2010), I sat at home for three years because no one wanted to cast me. That was the toughest time for me and the thought of not doing well was frustrating. But that emotional turmoil has surely made me stronger," he says.    He also adds that the film is not just about anesthesia awareness and says, "It isn't just about awareness. It's also a beautiful tale of emotions between a mother and a son."
