Irrfan Khan, who not just acted, but also co-produced Madaari, with his wife, Sutapa Sikdar, feels that the need of the hour is to find stories that are intrinsic to India, but also have a global connect.
A source says, “Irrfan has a knack of finding stories that the audience can relate to. This was apparent with this last film, Madaari. The actor believes that it is imperative that film-makers seek stories from the varied corners and cultures of the subcontinent. Irrfan is now in search for such stories. He plans to produce at least two films with such content in the near future. He wants the stories to resonate Indian ethos, so that they can be narrated well on the big screen for the global audience.”
When contacted, Sutapa confirmed the story, and said, “As producers, we are not project makers, but storytellers. Our audiences are now ready for new stories relating to our lives, stories that have been evolved from our roots and our soil, stories weaving the Indian ethos, but the ones that ring true to the whole world. We are looking for new stories all the time. Irrfan and I are enjoying this process.”
