Mumbai, July 31 -- When she made her B-Town debut with Barfi! (2012), Ileana D'Cruz (left) created a lot of buzz in the industry.

But, nothing concrete came her way post that. Last seen on the big screen in Happy Ending (2014), the actor will next be seen in Rustom (opposite Akshay Kumar) after a two-year hiatus.

She plays Cynthia Pavri in the movie. Talking about why she isn't doing more Bollywood films, Ileana says, "Some films were offered to me, but I didn't take them up. I kept checking the progress of those movies to know if I had made the right choices. The films didn't do well, so I dodged a bullet there. There was also an overseas film that didn't work out. I'm glad the timing was right, and I'm glad I signed Rustom."

Ileana says Neeraj Pandey, the producer of Rustom, wanted to cast her in Special 26 (2013) and the upcoming biopic on MS Dhoni, but she didn't understand the characters. However, when she was approached for Rustom, she loved the script.

She felt her character (Cynthia) in the movie, who cheats on her husband, was exciting. "There was nervousness about playing the role. With such a character, you are immediately put in the negative space. How this character was turned positive was thrilling. I don't know if I'll pass with flying colours, but I wanted to give it a shot," she says. Since she hadn't done a film for two years before signing Rustom, Ileana says she had "lost all hope" of getting a good offer. "I told Tinu (Suresh Desai; director) that I can't believe I'm getting such a good script. I had lost all hope. I was getting random roles that I didn't want to do."

Rustom is directed by Tinu Suresh Desai and produced by Zee Studios and Kriarj Entertainment, in association with Cape Of Good Films and Plan C. It releases on August 12.
