New Delhi, Feb. 17 -- Be it Deepika Padukone, Aditya Roy Kapur or Shahid Kapoor, actors are developing new skills to fit into their characters.

The 29-year-old actor will undergo training in swordfighting, horse-riding and Kalaripayattu - an ancient Indian martial art - for her upcoming film, Bajirao Mastani. "As I have never done a role that requires any of this, it will be hard. I will have to learn from scratch. Horse-riding should be more fun than swordfighting, but it will also be stressful as I know that the training will be done simultaneously with the shooting of the film," says Deepika.

Actor Salman Khan will be doing some boxing and fencing for his upcoming film, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo. The actor has been taking lessons in these. "Salman plays a double role in the film. One of his characters will be that of an ordinary person while the other character is that of a fighter. To be perfect in his part, he has been undergoing training for boxing and fencing," says a source close to the actor.

Actor Shahid Kapoor will be seen horse-riding in Vikas Bahl's Shaandar. He is very excited about the sequence, and recently posted a photo beside a horse on the sets of the film. "Rocky and me, getting to know each other better #Shaandar," he wrote. The film also stars Alia Bhatt, and is based on the theme of a destination wedding.

His fans loved him in the roles of a musician in Aashiqui 2 (2013) and a chef in Daawat-e Ishq (2014), and Aditya Roy Kapur is now set to play an artist in his upcoming film Fitoor, which also stars Katrina Kaif. "Aditya has got a painting board placed in his living room along with a picture of Katrina, which he is trying to sketch. Every day, he spends some time practising. In fact, he has grown so fond of the art that he has been trying his hand at landscape sketching as well," says a source.

The actor has been practising mixed martial arts for his next film, Brothers. Sidharth will be seen playing the role of a wrestler, and has been engaged in a special form of mixed martial arts which is a full-contact combat sport. "Mixed martial arts are an intense and fast-paced regime. I have learnt it for my film and want to continue practising it as my regular fitness routine," the actor had said earlier.
