Mumbai, Oct. 13 -- Anurag Kashyap, who showed off his acting prowess in the TV serial, Yudh, will tread the same path in Sudhir Mishra's Aur Devdas too. But the producer-director says he "hates acting".

"I have been emotionally blackmailed into doing cameos. I will never cast myself in my films. I acted in Yudh only because I got to play Amitabh Bachchan's father indirectly," he says, adding, "I like roles where I have no dialogue. Acting does not come naturally to me."

Kashyap admits that he agreed to meet Mishra, as "he is my mentor and I will do whatever he says". "I started my career with him and (director) Shivam Nair. My first TV writing was for Sudhirji," he says.

Talking about TV, he says his show didn't quite turn out the way he wanted it to. "The TV industry here is mainly dependent on ads, and that breaks the momentum of the show. It should be like in the US, where one subscribes for a TV show and enjoys it uninterrupted. The show was an attempt that did not work. But we can't complain about it," he says, adding that it won't discourage him from attempting something on TV in the future.

While he is still trying to work a way around ads in serials on the small screen, we ask him about the no-smoking ad issue - which he took to court a while back - in films. "We just fight for our rights. There are many outdated laws, and if we won't question them, how will they evolve? One needs to put forward one's views," says the director.
