Mumbai, Jan. 20 -- With a career spanning about 34 years with over 500 films, including a list of international projects such as Bend It Like Beckham (2002), Bride And Prejudice (2004), and Silver Linings Playbook (2013), Anupam Kher is one of the most celebrated Indian actors in Hollywood.
Now, his portrayal of Azmat Nanjiani in the romantic comedy, The Big Sick (2017), has bagged him a nomination in the Outstanding Performance By A Cast In A Motion Picture category of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards. In 2013, he earned his first SAG nomination for his part in the movie, Silver Linings Playbook (2012).
A source close to the actor reveals, "Anupam is the only Indian actor to have earned two SAG nominations. Though he is currently holding the chairmanship at the Film And Television Institute Of India (FTII), and mentoring acting talent with his international accolades, he will be flying to Los Angeles (USA) to attend the ceremony on January 21."
Talking about it, the actor says, "It is a great feeling to represent my country at such a prestigious international awards ceremony. I am extremely honoured to be a nominee at SAG among such talented artistes. I thank the makers and team of The Big Sick. I'll be joining them at the award show in Los Angeles."
