Zoa Morani set to team up with Naseer

By Hindustan Times

After playing a feisty motormouth in her debut film, Always Kabhi Kabhi (2011), actor Zoa Morani is set for a change of scenery. Her second film, Mastaan, will mark her entry in to the gangster world, with Naseeruddin Shah playing don Karim Lala, while his son Vivaan features as the young Haji

“Sunil (Bohra, producer) and Rocky (Khanna, director) have had detailed discussions with her. They are confident that Zoa is fit for the part, but she is yet to be roped in formally. Everything — including Zoa’s casting — related to the film has been delayed because Rocky hasn’t been keeping too well,” says an insider.

When contacted, Bohra says: “Zoa is almost finalised for the film, but we are yet to lock her casting officially. Actually, my director fell ill and that’s why things are running behind schedule. Once he recovers, we will go ahead with our plans.” Although the makers are completely tightlipped about Zoa’s part in the film, the actor will apparently play the role of an ’80s girl, and is said to have a few sequences with Naseeruddin as well as Vivaan, in the film that is believed to be budgeted at Rs. 20 crore.

Interestingly, it will be Naseer and Vivaan’s second film together after 7 Khoon Maaf (2011), though in Vishal Bhardwaj’s film, the father-son duo didn’t actually share any screen space. Meanwhile, Vivaan is believed to have started preparing for the part in the film by reading up about the era to understand how gangsters ruled the roost back then. Mastaan will also mark singer Mohit Chauhan’s debut as a music composer.
