Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani breaks Salman Khan's box office record

Ayan Mukherji's second outing Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani may well be the next film to join Rs. 100 crore club! After a grand opening on Friday with a total of Rs. 19. 45 crore, the earnings for the film rose slightly to Rs. 20.16 crore on Saturday. The collections further rose on Sunday to Rs. 22.5 crore, averaging the weekend collection at Rs. 62.11 crore.

The film has already had the biggest opening at box office this year. Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani also crossed the weekend collection figures of Ek Tha Tiger, Dabangg 2, RaOne, Bodyguard and several other biggies that have made it to the 100-crore-club in the last few years, Indiatimes reported.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted on Monday morning, "#YehJawaaniHaiDeewani collected Rs. 62.11 cr nett in opening weekend. Breakup:- Fri 19.45 cr, Sat 20.16 cr, Sun 22.5 cr. Outstanding!"

Earlier Taran wrote, "#YehJawaaniHaiDeewani Fri 19.45 cr, Sat 20.16 cr. Total: Rs. 39.61 cr. FANTABULOUS"

The film has also been successful in making a decent collection overseas. The box office for UK earnings totalled £ 278,618 [Rs 2.39 cr] for Friday and Saturday. In New Zealand, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani collected NZ$ 45,873 [Rs 20.60 lacs] in the first two days of its release.
