Would love to do regional films: Neha

Actor Neha Dhupia, who has been appreciated for her roles in films like Ek Chalis Ki Last Local, Dasvidaniya and Phas Gaye Re Obama, is excited about her first Punjabi film, Rangeelay, which releases next month. The 32-year old, says, “I was very nervous and cautious about my foray into the Punjabi film industry. But when I heard the script, all my doubts were cleared and I agreed to do the film, happily.”

Ask her if we will be doing more Punjabi films and she says, “Why not? I wouldn’t mind taking up regional film projects with interesting scripts. Punjabi cinema is of course growing by leaps and bounds.”

Interestingly, Neha, who will soon be seen in Karan Johar’s Unglee and an untitled comedy film by Viacom 18, will be completing a decade in the industry in July. “It feels great to survive (in the industry) for so long. The journey has been great,” she says.

Lastly, talking about the horrendous rape of a 5-year-old in the capital, she says, “It irks me to the core and I am very angry. May be legalising prostitution could be a way to reduce sexual crimes against women.”
