Newbie Esha Gupta is enjoying a dream run in Bollywood, what with two of her very first releases (Raaz 3, Jannat 2) ending up doing a combined business of more than 100 crores. In fact if her upcoming film Chakravyuh turns out to be successful as well, the Delhi girl would be one
of the rare newcomers to have enjoyed a hat trick of successes in her very first year in showbiz.
"Well, people may say I am lucky heroine and all but now I know that with a hit tag behind me, there are all the more dependencies that I need to fulfill in films to come", says Esha, "In fact I can already see that my life has changed. It is difficult to walk on the streets now and when I am seated in my car, there are so many out there who recognize me. Of course it is a feeling of 'wow'; who wouldn't crave for that?"
While Jannat 2 was a dramatic tale and didn't really have much to do for Esha, she was compensated for that with Raaz 3 where she played a damsel in distress. Now in Chakravyuh she has graduated of sorts, what with Prakash Jha trusting her to play the role of a cop.
"I am really looking forward to Chakravyuh doing good as well. After distinct genres that I have attempted, this is a serious, yet entertaining take on the socio-economic-political challenges faced in certain parts of the country", she says, "See, junta out there always needs a different story to be told and so many success stories at the box office has shown that people indeed are in needs for change."
Guess her arrival as a new face is also the kind of change that Bollywood is grabbing with both hands.
"It has been overwhelming for sure. I am not a born actor. In fact I was a studious child and wanted to be a journalist or a lawyer. This business of films is now for me as well", she says, "I know one thing for sure which is not to take myself so seriously. It is better to know where my faults lie than being carried away by the successful streak so far."
Meanwhile one wonders what happens to Esha after the release of Chakravyuh. Since she has a three film contract with Bhatts, is she on target to begin her third outing with them?
"There isn't anything as of now since they are busy shooting Murder 3 and Aashiqui 2. I am sure that if there is a good project then I will definitely do it even if it was their fourth film for me. I owe everything to Mukeshji", says Esha before signing off.
