Former cricketer and BJP MP from Amritsar, Navjot Singh Sidhu, who had happily announced his participation in the fifth season of Bigg Boss in July this year, says it is because of his political duties that he is not seen on the show.
When asked about the reason behind his change of plans, he says: “To be honest, I wanted to participate (in Bigg Boss 5) but because of my responsibility as a politician, I could not be there. You know there are the Punjab elections, and then Delhi MCD polls in Delhi, therefore I could not be on the show.”
He adds, “Politics is my first priority and being a member of Parliament from Amritsar, I have huge responsibility towards the people of Amritsar.”
Interestingly, in an earlier interview to a publication, the 47-year-old politician had confirmed his participation in the reality show. “Yes. And I am pretty excited about it (Bigg Boss). It was a long wait before we could reach a conclusion. As an orator I am in a different mode and as a comedy show judge, people have seen my funny side. But for Bigg Boss, I will be in the real spirit of Sidhuism,” he was quoted as saying.
So, is Sidhu regretting not being on the show? “No, I don’t regret anything. There’s always a time for everything,” he says. Since he did not enter the house, speculations suggest that he will enter the Bigg Boss house as a wild card entry now. But Sidhu clears the air saying, “There is nothing in the pipeline on that. I haven’t been offered anything like that.”
