Rajkumar Hirani’s movies always create a buzz and his next production P.K. has been in the news for many reasons. The Aamir Khan and Anushka Sharma pairing created curiosity as did the talk of Imran Khan being cast in the film. Although the last bit of news turned out to be a rumour, the fact is that while Aamir stars as P.K., there is another lead in the film.
It will be a younger role and filmmaker Hirani is considering either Shahid Kapoor or Ranbir Kapoor for it. A source says, “Both are popular actors and share a healthy rivalry in addition to a good friendship. Hirani is impressed with their bodies of work, which is why he has considered them for the role of the younger character in the film. Hirani always had these two in mind, contrary to the rumours involving various other actors. He will make his decision soon.”
The Munnabhai MBBS (2003) director’s spokesperson confirms, “Yes, Shahid and Ranbir are the only two names being considered to play the younger lead.” This will be Aamir’s second film with Hirani, after the super successful 3 Idiots (2009) and the buzz is that it should start shooting by December end. For now, Hirani has kept the script under wraps and not in the mood to reveal anything.
