Vishal Karwal: Making a 'Bigg' switch

Mumbai, April 23 -- In keeping with the trend, yet another television actor is now preparing to make his Bollywood debut. This time, Bigg Boss 6 star Vishal Karwal will be seen making the transition to the big screen with the third film in producer Vikram Bhatt's 1920 (2008) franchise.

The film comes after the 2012 release, 1920: Evil Returns (directed by Bhushan Patel), which took the franchise forward. "This is one of Bhatt's biggest franchises. We will start shooting from May 2 in Gujarat. Then we will proceed to film in London for a month," says Vishal, who has previously featured on TV shows such as Splitsvilla, Bhagyavidhaata and Dwarkadheesh.

In the movie, he will be seen opposite newcomer Meera Chopra. Although the film will also mark her Bollywood debut, she has previously acted in a few south films. Teenu Desai will direct the currently untitled horror film.

Incidentally, this isn't the first film offer Vishal has received. After his stint in the reality show, Bigg Boss, he had quite a few options in hand. But he waited for the right time to make a choice, as he wanted to pick a film that would give him the best platform.

"Apart from Hindi films, I had a few deals from Punjabi filmmakers too, but I wanted to work with an established production house," he says, admitting that, just like any other debutant, he too wants his first film to reach out to as many people as possible.

"When you start your career with someone like Vikram, you know you are going to get a good beginning. The film will be promoted well," says Vishal, with a smile.
