Mumbai, Dec. 22 -- The first teaser of Vidhu Vinod Chopra's summer release, Ferrari Ki Sawaari, will be unveiled this Friday. It's been attached to this year's Christmas treat-Shah Rukh Khan's Don 2. Two years ago, on December 25, 2009, Chopra's 3 Idiots starring Aamir Khan, R Madhavan and Sharman Joshi, opened and went on to become Bollywood's highest grosser.
This promo on the same date points out that one of the idiots Sharman Joshi is back to take viewers on a joyride. "It was important for me as a producer to underline the connection on the second anniversary of 3 Idiots, a film I'm emotionally attached to. Ferrari Ki Sawaari is Sharman's first big movie as a solo hero and I had to give him a good promotional 'break'. But that apart, I'm not superstitious about dates," asserts Vinod. "I believe a good movie will run irrespective of when it arrives. I pointed this out to Vidya (Balan) whose The Dirty Picture opened on Moharram and is a superhit."
His daughter Zooni who is a published author at 10, has loved Ferrari Ki Sawaari and told him it's a better film than 3 Idiots. "I'm on a high!" he exults.
The film, scheduled to release on April 27, will be the first big movie to open during the fourth season of Indian Premier League. Vinod says it's appropriately given that it's about an aspiring 12-year-old cricketer. He's unfazed by the competition posed by cricket: "If you have something to give the world, the world will come to you. If people want to see a match, they may give one show a miss, but they will come for the next one if it's a movie they want to see. And they'll want to see this one. I've never been concerned about all this. Vidhu Vinod Chopra Production is the only film company that didn't issue ads about how many crores 3 Idiots earned. It's important to us is to make good cinema, not talk money."
