Vidya Balan, after her dirty song Ooh La La with Naseeruddin Shah in The Dirty Picture (2011), not so surprisingly, has now taken on the item girl baton too. And she doesn’t want her cameo song debut to go wrong in any manner. The actor, set to perform an ultra-glam number in Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s Ferrari Ki Sawaari, has gone through elaborate look tests to finalise her hair-do, make-up and costumes.
The latest is that the producer, director Rajesh Mapuskar and she have gone through over 10 different appearances and haven’t been able to zero in on the perfect one. Insiders inform that since neither of the looks have worked for the trio, they plan to sketch another set of looks for her altogether. Producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra confirms the news and says, “We have gone through various looks. We plan to go through the tests once again to finalise the perfect one.” When prodded for further information, Rajesh says, “We are not supposed to talk about Vidya’s look at all. We are keeping everything under wraps. It’s going to be a surprise.”
Apparently, Vidya saw portions of Ferrari Ki Sawaari along with the producer and director, and instantly agreed to do the song. “Vidya has discussed the nature of the song extensively with Chopra and Mapuskar,” says a unit hand, adding, “After The Dirty Picture, everyone knows Vidya has been working on losing the extra kilos. It’s natural to expect her in a slimmer and sexier avatar in the song.”
In the meantime, Vidya is also hearing scratches of three different songs out of which one will eventually make it to the film. “It depends on the mood and the look of the overall film that will decide what kind of a song will eventually fit in,” says the unit member.
