The trend mostly is of big Bollywood actors earning Hollywood roles. But there is a scope for a bit of a reversal – guest appearances and proper roles for Hollywood talent in Hindi cinema. After Mike Henderson (in Bride & Prejudice; 2004) and Sylvester Stallone and Denise Richards (in Kambakkht Ishq; 2008), the latest import is one of the vampires from The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn (Part 2). Judith Shekoni, who plays Zafrina in the film, is making her Bollywood debut with Shubir Mukherjee’s next, Club Dancer. She is flying to Mumbai tonight for it.
“Judi has a proper role, that of a dancer, and she will be doing two dance performances in the film,” says Shubir. Ask him why he chose her for the role and he says, “I was in London where I saw Breaking Dawn Part 2, and later happened to meet her. She is a terrific dancer. The way she moves is amazing. Then I met her agents there. It wasn’t a one-day job. I had to stay in London for around a month to convince her to come on board.” Earlier, Shubir had roped in English dancer-singer Samantha Fox for Rock Dancer (1995). Judi will shoot for five to six days, starting January 30. “She has given me 8-10 days. The rehearsal will consume a good part of it as she has to be trained in Bollywood dancing,” says Shubir.
