Sunil Grover not replacing Kapil Sharma?

By HT

Mumbai, Sept. 18 -- There has been a lot of speculation about Sunil Grover's new comedy show and how it will replace Krushna Abhishek's show, The Drama Company, after it wraps up.

But things are not as simple as they seem. Sources have informed HT Cafe that while Sunil is set to make a comeback and is in talks with the channel for a new show, his programme won't be a replacement for The Kapil Sharma Show (TKSS).

"Sunil has been in touch with the channel since he quit TKSS in March. He was offered to a show of his own earlier, but it seems the talks will bear fruit this time around and Sunil will end up with a brand new show. He is working with the channel on a new concept and things should be finalised soon. But the reports that he will replace Kapil Sharma are not true," a source says.

According to the source, Kapil will return with his show after his film releases in November. "Sunil's show will air on the 9pm slot, and once Kapil returns, most likely in December, TKSS might get the 10pm slot. Sunil and Kapil will entertain the audience on the same channel, but in different shows," the source says, adding that Krushna's show will continue until Sunil's programme is ready.

"While there are reports that Ali Asgar, Kiku Sharda and Sugandha Mishra will join Sunil in his new show, it is too early to say anything, as no one has been approached yet," the source says.

Sunil and Kapil were not available for comment.
