Sonali Bendre: 'Only regret is that I didn't say no..'

New Delhi, Oct. 2 -- Actor, Sonali Bendre, who has been a part of the industry for almost two decades now, feels that the only mistake which she made in her career was that she was not confident enough to say no.

The actor, who will now be making her foray into fiction shows on television, says that she was never satisfied with the work she did on a project which she was not keen on from the start.

"All this time I have worked in a certain way. I have always found it very tough to say no. In fact, I still find it tough to say no. But I feel when you do things which you don't want to do, you don't do it with all your heart and then it shows in your work. So, my only regret is that I didn't say no," says Sonali, who has been seen in films like Pyaar Kiya Nahin Jaata.. (2003) as well as Love Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega (2001), which didn't manage to garner much appreciation at the box office.

The one thing which she has decided to say no to are roles which are not age appropriate. "There are some people who are still hanging on to the image which I had. I have lines on my face and I want the audience to see and accept me with them. I don't want to be twenty years any more (on screen). I don't even see any reason to," she says, adding, "I don't want to re-visit the past again and again by doing the same kind of roles." Sonali, 39, is now waiting with bated breath for her fans' reaction when they see her on her new television show. "It is scary to think whether the audience will accept me or not. I look a certain way now. I hope they accept me," she says.
