Mumbai, July 22 -- It seems like film actors are taking to the small screen in large numbers. After Anil Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan, Bhagyashree, Shilpa Shirodkar and Padmini Kolhapure, now, Raj Babbar is set to debut on TV with a show produced by film-maker Vipul Shah.
An insider says, "The show is about a middle-class Punjabi family, with Babbar starring as the father and Shubhangi Latkar playing the mother. The show also stars Rannvijay Singha, who plays the son. The story will show the conflicts between a father and his son, and how the mother bridges the gap."
On being contacted, the 62-year-old actor says, "I am in talks with them and nothing is confirmed yet. I will get clarity in a few days. Once things settle, I will be able to talk about it."
However, our source claims, "The shooting has started and it is mounted as big show on a popular channel. The project has been kept under wraps for a while as the channel seems to be planning a big announcement. Apparently, they are trying to rope in popular faces for their channel."
Rannvijay, who has been the face of a reality show for the last 10 years, has done some Hindi and Punjabi films. This will be his acting debut on TV too. Vipul was unavailable for comment.
