Johny Lever: Sunil Grover is a very good artist

Comedian Johny Lever feels that although comedians these days are fortunate to get platforms to showcase their talent, too much exposure can be harmful for them.
“Opportunities that comic artists are getting today are good. But then too much of it becomes dangerous. There are a lot of expectations from them but less time at hand to innovate. Getting a break is very important, both for the performer as well as the audience. Sometimes, comedians lose focus. Also, when fame comes in no time, it tends to go to your head. Having said all this, I am in awe of these artists who are doing so much in so less time and making money,” says the actor, who is back on TV with a comedy show Partners Trouble Ho Gayi Double on Sony SAB. He was last seen in the show Johny Aala Re in 2007.
Ask Johny who among the current generation of comic artists is his favourite, and he says, “All of them are so full of talent that it’s difficult to pick just one of them. But if I have to name a few, then I think Sunil Grover is a very good artist. Krishna Abhishek, Sudesh Lehri and Sugandha Mishra are also doing well. Their comedy is intelligent. One doesn’t get bored easily.”
Johny’s daughter Jamie Lever is also a comedian. What’s his opinion about her work? “How can I say that? (Laughs) I just hope she works hard to entertain people. I am always there to support Jamie and my son Jesse, but they will have to work hard” says Johny, who was last seen in the Bollywood film Golmaal Again.
