Dheeraj Dhoopar: We jokingly call TV the industry of close-ups..

New Delhi, Sept. 16 -- Actor Dheeraj Dhoopar, who started out as a TV actor with the 2010 show Maat Pitaah Ke Charnon Mein Swarg, is currently winning hearts with his performance in a popular show.

However, he says that being a TV actor isn't easy. "I have been shooting for 14-15 hours each day, for a week now. Our job doesn't end with the shooting hours-you need to look great, so going to the gym is necessary."

Though he adds that having a great physique isn't the sole requirement for making it big as an actor, he refuses to disregard it altogether.

"Everything is important, as we jokingly call TV, the industry of close-ups. Every time you face the camera, you need to look fresh."

TV actors can look forward to progressing from TV to films, these days, thanks to success stories such as those of Shah Rukh Khan and Sushant Singh Rajput. Dheeraj believes that the film industry has started giving more importance to television actors.

"Most directors and producers from Bollywood are looking for people from TV now, because of the exposure they already have. Also, getting them on-board is an added advantage, because of the popularity they enjoy. But, in the entertainment industry, a lot of things depend on luck. You have to be at the right place, at the right time," says the 32-year old.
