Mumbai, May 23 -- Director Abhishek Kapoor has carved a niche for himself by making films on non-mainstream subjects. After his debut film Rock On!! (2008), which followed the story of a rock band's ups and downs, and Kai Po Che (KPC), which dealt with the rocky relationship among three friends, the director is all set to explore a classic Bollywood theme - romance.
For this film, he will team up with KPC star Sushant Singh Rajput again. "It's a passionate love story. It's a space I have never ventured into before, but it is a standard genre for Indian cinema. I am going to make the film with Sushant in it," says Abhishek, who has had the idea for a while. It is apparently inspired by Charles Dickens's classic novel, Great Expectations.
The director also expresses his desire to work with his other KPC stars, Amit Sadh and Rajkumar again. "It might not be possible to cast all of them in the same film, but yes, I would love to work with Amit and Raju as well," says Abhishek.
He is also set to make another film, this time teaming up with his cousin, producer Ekta Kapoor's Balaji Motion Pictures. Giving out more details about the project, he says, "I am in talks with them and they are still finalising certain things. I am also in talks with other producers, so let's see how it all shapes up," says Abhishek.
A source close to Sushant reveals that he will start work on this film after he completes shooting for Rajkumar Hirani's P.K.
