Ranbir wins Best Actor
Ranbir Kapoor won the Best Actor award for his title role of the deaf-mute boy in Barfi! He wasn't present at the ceremony, since he is busy shooting for Besharam. Director Anurag Basu accepted the award on his behalf. Vidya Balan won Best Actress for Kahaani. Meanwhile, Ranbir and Deepika Padukone together won the Best Jodi award.
Shah Rukh shakes a leg
He may be in a lot of pain, but Shah Rukh Khan pushed himself beyond limits to promote his forthcoming film, Chennai Express, at the final day of the awards weekend. The actor, who was co-hosting the show with Shahid Kapoor, sported his sling and even danced to one of the songs from the film. Although Shah Rukh took off the sling while dancing on stage, he was seen holding his right hand firmly to his chest. Surprisingly, Deepika was also present at the event and was witnessed performing to a medley of popular chartbusters including 'Badtameez dil' and 'Balam pichkari'. She did not take the stage with Shah Rukh for his promotional performance, even though she plays the lead opposite him in this Rohit Shetty film.
Party in the suite
An ailing Shah Rukh Khan stopped hosting the ceremony halfway, probably because he was unable to continue after his Chennai Express performance. Sources reveal that he, however, threw a party at his suite where almost all actors and other members of the fraternity were present. Actors Fardeen Khan and Zayed Khan, who were initially partying at Zayed's suite were later spotted at SRK's party. "They were quite drunk. Fardeen was seen holding his drink as he took the lift to SRK's suite," says an eyewitness.
Filmmaker Anurag Basu was overwhelmed to see his last directorial, Barfi!, bag five awards -Best Film, Best Director, Best Story, Best Music and Best Actor at the awards ceremony. Though he regrets that neither of the film's lead actors (Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra) were in Macau to celebrate the moment with him, the filmmaker didn't let go of the opportunity. Basu was spotted dancing with his friends to some popular numbers churned out by the DJ at the afterparty organised at the hotel.
