He recently announced his upcoming debut in the Indian market with Chakra - The Invincible Hero, his first Indian superhero comic book, but his tryst with the country does not end here. American comic book tycoon Stan Lee is also working to bring to the big screen a film based on Indian mythology.
“We are working on a female-centric motion picture, Tigress, based on Indian mythology. It’s still in the initial stages and the screenplay is getting ready, but we plan to have a big Indian actress in the lead as a superheroine,” the 89-year-old told us over the phone from Los Angeles.
Lee, who has to his credit the creation of iconic superhero characters such as Iron Man, The Hulk, Thor, X-Men and Fantastic Four, to name a few, said that the movie is tentatively expected to be completed by early 2014.
Chakra, on the other hand, is in advanced stages and expected to come out by the year end itself, thanks to the collaboration between Lee’s company, Purveyors of Wonder Entertainment Inc (POW) and Liquid Comics.
Meanwhile, since Lee is nowadays fixated on India, does he plan to visit the country anytime soon? “I might visit India when we launch Chakra. India is a very warm nation, and I am especially fond of Indian food, so I am really really looking forward to that visit. Another reason why I love India is that I understand the people there,” said Lee.
