MUMBAI, Oct. 25 -- It's a known fact that Shah Rukh Khan studied at Jamia Millia Islamia university in Delhi. Last year, SRK launched ex-Jamia student Roshan Abbas as a director with Always Kabhi Kabhi. And now, even as the superstar gears up to act in childhood friend Anil Senior's ABCD, not many know that Anil was Shah Rukh's senior at Jamia during their student days.

"Yes, Shah Rukh was very impressed with the storyline of ABCD when Anil - who has also penned the script - narrated it to SRK. It's a coincidence that Anil was his senior at Jamia Millia. Although Shah Rukh feels it's a very well written script, he also comes up with inputs and suggestions whenever he can," says an insider close to the development of the project.

Anil earlier directed the 2008 dud Dil Kabaddi starring Irrfan, Konkona Sen Sharma and Rahul Bose. "Ever since, he has been focusing solely on the script of ABCD. The story is very close to his heart. That's why neither Shah Rukh nor Anil is in a hurry to start the film without proper preparation," adds the insider. "Both of them want to give it their best shot."

Although the preproduction work is still underway, the film will start only after SRK wraps up Rohit Shetty's Chennai Express (for which he is currently shooting) and Farah Khan's Happy New Year. Earlier, reports had suggested that Happy New Year had been pushed back since SRK wanted to work on ABCD first.

"But since things aren't absolutely ready for the film to take off, SRK is starting Happy New Year, for which the script and screenplay is already locked. In all probability, he will start the film late next year after the release of Chennai Express. By that time, Happy New Year will also be almost wrapped up," adds the insider.
