Despite the fact that her father, Anil Kapoor, is one of the biggest stars in the country and now a global personality, she is someone, who has only surprised us with her exceptional performances. Well, no 'Oscars' for guessing the fact that we are indeed talking about the 'Masakali' girl Sonam Kapoor who in a very short time has made an impeccable mark in Bollywood.
Well, it is the same Delhi 6 babe who will now be seen at the 'receiving end', with Karan Johar for company in the chat show that has taken the entire country by storm -'Tere Mere Beach Mein', hosted by Farah Khan.
The USP of this show is the fact that every episode has a theme attached to it. This time round, the theme is 'Weighty Issues'. Beating the bulge or weighty issues is the theme on which Karan Johar and Sonam Kapoor reveal their secrets to host Farah Khan. One can easily trust Farah to get the best of well-kept secrets out of the bag, not from any reliable sources, but from the horses mouths' itself! In this episode, Sonam and Karan speak about their struggle being overweight.
Karan (who once weighed 120 kilos) and Sonam (who once weighed a whopping 90 kilos) talk about how they overcame their weight problems, the difficulties they faced and also about how society puts certain conditions and pressures as far as one's physical appearance is concerned. Not just that, both these celebs share interesting anecdotes from their childhood when they used to eat forbidden things in hiding from their respective mothers and eat like a glutton to overcome depression when their schoolmates and friends would tease and hurt them.
Sonam went on record to say (read 'confess'), "I was depressed when I went to boarding school at the age of 15. I was the only Indian girl in my school in Singapore. There was plenty junk food available. While my mother had stopped all chocolates at home, here, I was free to eat anything and everything that I wanted. I used to eat 1 pint ice-cream, two large pizzas alone and instead of three meals would have 10 meals a day. I ate and gained a lot of weight (partly also because of certain hormonal imbalances). I went from 50 kilos to 90 kilos in just 4 months My mum started crying seeing me."
If that was not enough, she also added, "When Sanjay Leela Bhansali saw me, he said that I look like a painting from Ajanta. Don't lose weight, you have those curves." To this, Farah had a quick repartee, "Tum Ajanta ki painting thi ki poori Ajanta ki cave thi?"
Watch all of this and much more, only on 'Tere Mere Beach Mein' this Saturday, September 19, at 9 pm. By the way, if at all, there was an award for Making Celebs Confess their deepest and darkest secrets, Farah will surely win it hands down…unanimously!
