Snoop Dogg, Pitbull may collaborate for a show in India

Close on the heels of Lady Gaga and Metallica wowing Indian fans, now Tom Cruise, Snoop Dog and Pitbull are slated to visit the country around the same time early December to promote their respective initiatives.

While Tom Cruise is coming to India to promote his forthcoming film, Mission Impossible – Ghost Protocol (MI: 4), Pitbull will be here for his India Tour 2011, slated to go to three cities. American rapper Snoop Dogg, who has earlier sung for Akshay Kumar’s Singh Is Kinng, has an impending meeting with star to promote Desi Boyz and discuss a new project.

Organisers of Pitbull’s India Tour, Vismay Choksi, director of Cross Bar Entertainment, and Utkarsh Bansal, director of P3P E Ventures do not deny the news, but say they are “awaiting confirmations”. Utkarsh says, “We have initiated a dialogue with Tom Cruise’s team, inviting him to attend Pitbull’s concert. We’ve sent them details and they have shown interest. Since both are international stars, and are going to be in town around the same time, it will be a great opportunity to bring them together. But we’re still working on the details.”

Sources say Snoop Dogg has also shown interest in being part of a possible ‘meet and greet’ and if dates work out, Pitbull and he may collaborate for at least one show together. If not, the rapper might to do a concert as part of his India tour later this year.

While Cruise had earlier tweeted his interest in Hindi and thanked his MI:4 co-star Anil Kapoor for teaching him a few words, Pitbull, the popular singer-songwriter, best-known for ‘I know you want me…’ has created an India specific page, featuring comments like ‘Incredible India’ and the ‘land of beautiful women’. About his impending tour, the music star says, “The wait is finally over, and now, I’m excited to bring my live show to India. I can’t wait for my fans to join me where I’ll be performing all of their favourites.”

He adds that stories of India have fascinated him, saying, “Hopefully my next will have inspiration from India.” The concert will donate proceeds to Suryoday Aids Foundation, championed by Bhaiyuji Maharaj for creating awareness about HIV.
