Singers work, not weddings!

By Hindustan Times

Mumbai, June 9 -- It's a fabulous show that, in all likelihood, should become a stiff competition for existing singing reality shows. The best aspect is that it allows singers between 16 and 80 to participate in groups, duos, and solo, a concept not yet seen on desi TV. The combination of judges works well too.

Sonu Niigaam makes a comeback to television after a short break. He's unusually funny and lively. Shreya is always laughing and smiling. And Mr Bhansali is subtly witty and excellent with his one-line comments, wordless reactions and facial expressions. It's also fun to watch and hear Shreya and Sonu sing without any music. Now if only Mr Bhansali would join in.

The talent, in comparison to Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, is varied. There are bhajan mandlis, bands, and even husband-wife duos. However, in terms of quality, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa has always produced exceptional talent. Also, at times, the show does remind one of Indian Idol and the other similar franchise in the passing. Overall, a good watch.
