MUMBAI, Feb. 25 -- Shahid Kapoor couldn't have found a better way to celebrate his birthday. The actor, who turns 32 today, plans to spend his morning catching the Academy Awards on TV.
Shahid has been hooked on to the Oscars race right from the time the nominations were announced and made sure he wrapped up the shoot for Rajkumar Santoshi's Phata Poster Nikla Hero (PPNH) before his birthday today, just so that he could watch the awards.
"Shahid had long working hours. He has been on the sets for 14 to 16 hours a day to finish the shooting of PPNH," says a source close to the actor. Since the film was shot at various locations, the shooting schedules were a little more tedious than usual. But Shahid, says the source, accommodated his dates and shot extra hours to finish all the work. "He had set a target for himself and he lived up to it," the source adds.
And now that his long schedule has ended, Shahid will take a couple of days off to relax and celebrate his birthday. The source says, "Shahid wants to unwind before he kick-starts his next film, Rambo Rajkumar, with Prabhudheva." For this film, Shahid and Sonakshi Sinha will come together for the first time.
At the time of going to print, Shahid confirmed this news saying, "I am really looking forward to the Oscars. That's how I plan to start my birthday." Among the Oscar nominated films this year, Shahid has already watched Argo and is very keen to watch Lincoln and Life Of Pi. However, because of his tight schedule so far, he hasn't been able to catch any of the films. But the actor is making sure he sits with his friends and watches a movie every now and then. The source says, "His friends come over to his house and have a sort of movie marathon. They watch as many films as possible."
