The film might be called Aashiqi 2, but the makers insist it has nothing to do with the Rahul Roy-Anu Aggarwal starrer, Aashiqui; however, evidence claiming otherwise continues to pile up. The latest is that the makers have planned to retain the song, ‘Sason ki zaroorat’ from the hit soundtrack
of the 1990 film. “Since Aashiqui had such great music and people still remember it, the makers thought it would be a good idea to include one song from that film in Aashiqi 2,” says a source.
Producer Bhushan Kumar confirms the news, saying, “We’ve already recorded many songs for Aashiqi 2 and we’re confident that the audience will enjoy them. But people insisted we bring back at least one song from the original. Using older tracks in films has anyway become a trend.”
Will they remix the song? “Not at all,” he says, adding, “‘Sason ki zaroorat’ is a beautiful track. You can’t remix it. But we will recreate it, keeping the lyrics and the basic tune intact. We will rearrange the rhythm and make it more electronic to make it appealing for today’s generation.” Though he doesn’t reveal the details, Bhushan doesn’t rule out the possibility of retaining another number from the original album. “We may also get another song from the original,” he says. The film, which is being directed by Mohit Suri, is currently being shot in Cape Town, South Africa. It stars Aditya Roy Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor.
