2007 is coming to a close and it's that time of the year when Bollywood followers across world would go on an overdrive to list down the best of the business in the showbiz.

Lions Club SOL International has already taken a start on this and announced its awards for 2007. In a glittering event held on Saturday, December 1. 2007 at Mumbai, Sanjay Khanduri was adjudged as ‘the Best Upcoming Director of the year’ for his black comedy Ek Chalis Ki Last Local. The film starring Abhay Deol, Neha Dhupia and Deepak Shirke had released earlier this year and made its presence felt amongst the connoisseurs of cinema with an edgy narrative.

Says Khanduri, "This is my first award for the film and of course it means a lot to me. After all the support and appreciation I got after the release of the film, an award like this comes as a shot in the arm. It proves yet again that there is a world out there which is interested in seeing a story told in a new format."

Khanduri had recently got married less than a fortnight ago. Seems the beginning of a new phase in his life is already going in a right direction? Laughs Sanjay, "Well, its been just 11 days and my lady in life seems to be bringing in some lucky charm for me. I am sure my well wishers would continue to lend their support to me and ensure that I make the right films."
